4Storeys Up Art Clash

For a newbie to the concept of an “art battle” I was pleased to participate in the 4Storeys Up Art Clash this past week as a fundraiser for The Linden School for girls located in midtown Toronto. We started with 6 artists and ended with two finalists, myself and a Linden grad/alumni.  We were allowed 20 minutes per round and as the sun was setting on the rooftop we finished the final round. It was an entertaining event and loads of fun.  While I came in second, I am pleased to say that both paintings were sold and went to a great cause.

I am in the process of getting photos for the event and will post them–but in the meanwhile here are three paintings I did as a practice run for the event.  Each took 20 minutes to paint and are done in acrylic on canvas.  I never realized how stimulating and fun an “art battle” could be….

4Storeys Up Art Clash

I am pleased to be participating in this years’s art clash for the Linden School. The Linden school is a girl centred non-profit charity that focuses on girl centred education. It’s a great school and a great opportunity to give something back–my daughter is graduating this year. Boy it really did go fast…..apparently tickets are going fast as well! For more details you can contact the Linden School directly.FourStories_V2 (1)

Winter Updates – Focus on Photography

It has been a busy Winter and this Spring is filled with new painting/photography projects currently underway. Here is a brief synopsis of two terrific shows I was involved with this winter.

Agnes Jamieson Juried Photograpy Show

I am very pleased that three of my prints were on show at the Agnes Jamieson Gallery in Minden Hills, Ontario in the categories of Water, Abstract Realism and Digital Manipulation.   The juried photography show ran from January 7 – February 7.  For more details you can still check out the Agnes Jamieson Gallery website and see the exciting new exhibitions underway.

Photopia 2015 @ Gallery 44

As a member of Gallery 44 I always make a point of taking part in their annual Photopia fundraiser and am pleased to announce that one of my “Tracy Arm Fjord Calving” prints was sold as part of the event this past March.  Gallery 44 is one of the top destination gallery venues to see innovative and creative work that expands the medium of photography and its possibilities.  It is always a worthwhile visit and a great opportunity to purchase affordable art.
