Liberal Window Gallery Installation
For the month of September, ten of my Black and White Panel Series paintingsare currently on display at a pop-up window gallery at Liberal Jewellery, 805 Dundas St West until October 2. Enjoy some of the great restaurants, shops and galleries in the area and then drop by Liberal to see their quality design jewellery while you view my paintings. Liberal Jewellery is a family run business and has been in Little Portugal for over 40 years–the store is a relaxed and elegant atmosphere with friendly knowledgeable jewellers who take the intimidation factor out of the equation and make it an enjoyable experience.
Dundas Street, west of Bathurst is one of the new “up and coming” neighbourhoods for design and food. If it’s good enough for Brad Pitt and other TIFF celebrities it is certainly good enough for the rest of us! Hudson Kitchen will soon open to the public so the rest of us folk can try what promises to be another great restaurant on the strip. Right now the critical decision is where to go for my birthday–L’Ouvrier or Campangnolo? Such a tough life…
Gallery 1313 Group Exhibition
I am also exhibiting one of my Home Series pieces entitled “Sunset Into Night” at Gallery 1313 from September 19-29. I am now a member of Gallery 1313 and am looking forward to more shows at this Queen Street West gallery that has become a landmark in the area. I am currently at work on expanding this series by examing the tension between representational and abstract in the prairie landscape of my childhood memories.
Dreamscape Series Featured on the Steve and Chris Show on CBC
“Amobeas”, one of the paintings in my Dreamscape series is being featured on the Steve and Chris Show where interior designer Sarah Keenlyside of Qanuk Interiors features a funky and fun teen’s room and how colour can enhance a small space.
The Steve and Chris shows airs weekdays at 2 p.m. on CBC television and this episode should air sometime in mid-October. Set your PVR and record it –I sure will be! But I am a bit biased I must admit but I will post the actual air date once it is confirmed.
In the meantime, enjoy the great Fall weather–yes it has arrived and leaves are turning colour. I know we live in Canada where Summer is “usually” followed by Fall (notwithstanding climate change), but why are we always surprised when it happens? Enjoy the last few weeks of outdoor patio weather!
Stay tuned for upcoming profiles on this blog on photographers Sarah Tothill and David Lifson and what makes them passionate about their work.
