Dreamscapes at the Liberal Gallery –The Foodie View

Purple_HazeMy second passion, next to art, is food.  Since I am down in the area quite a bit I have also felt compelled to try out the restaurant scene on the strip –  a tough job but someone has to do it.  There are always new places opening up but here is an incomplete and highly subjective list of some places.

For coffee fans there are numerous choices: Cafe Brasiliano (a neighbourhood gem) and Caldense Bakery  (for the freshest custard tarts and for a taste of the Portuguese flavour of the neighbourhood; Ezra’s Pound and Ellas Uncle for a different “indie” feel who offer organic, free trade coffee and fresh baked goods.    And don’t forget Saving Grace, a tiny restaurant with long line ups for their weekend brunches that always makes the “best lists” in Toronto for brunch.

One of my favourite “go to” restaurants that never disappoints is Louvrier restaurant (always a lovely dinner and great brunch) a few doors down from Hashtag and Liberal.  There is also Bent (another Susur Lee family venture) for an evening meal with an Asian fusion twist.   Don’t forget Campagnolo (rated as one of the best 50 restaurants by Macleans magazine in the Fall of 2012) for a memorable Italian dinner on the patio….There is also Porchetta & Co. for their amazing pulled pork sandwich creations and Odile Chocolat for her delicious chocolate creations.

There it is,  for a quick foodie overview.  Now we just need some more art galleries to mix in with the great design and clothing stores on the strip–so thanks to Liberal for being forward thinking in its approach to art and jewellery!  And just for the record, I don’t eat all the time when I am not painting–honestly. Check out Hashtag Gallery’s great shows and then check out the Liberal gallery window before heading out to dinner….

Here are some more images from my Dreamscape exhibit at the Liberal window gallery.Orange_Splash  The exhibit is up until mid August.  You can view the window Monday- Saturday from 10 a.m. -6:30 p.m.  All the artwork can also be viewed on my website for dimensions and titles.  Feel free to contact me through my website if you have any questions.
